Website Analysis

The Nifty Portal

Intent:

The Nifty Portal is an NFT piece itself. The purpose is to join the community and/or mint NFTs. While this intention doesn’t quite have to do with my practice as an artist or the intention I have for my own website, I believe that the other elements (below) are where I take inspiration from this website.

Voice:

Energetic, upbeat, fast-paced, futuristic

Tone:

There is no about page or any other separate pages for that matter, and therefore the tone is one of fluidity and chaos both at the same time.

Brand:

Because this website is a one pager for the most part, with few linked elements that can take you to another page, the brand is extremely consistent. Brand is established through font style, color palette, motion/music, and the overall choice of having a single page.

Personas:

  1. NFT collectors: those interested in collecting from the creator of the website
  2. NFT artists: gathering inspiration, staying updated on the work of others
  3. Non-NFT artists: those looking to get into NFTs to understand the space and the work that is being produced, artists looking to advance general knowledge of art world/art economy

Personas (for my personal website):

  1. Hiring managers: look at my body of work to understand if it matches with what they are looking for in an employee
  2. Friends/family/classmates: see what I’ve accomplished
  3. Potential clients: looking at my work to see if I am the right match for what they want

  1. Title: Aanya Arora
  2. Heading: Through the Looking Glass
  3. Text: A sequel to Alice’s Adventure in Wonderland, Through the Looking Glass takes imagination and fantasy a step further as it explores loneliness as one matures. Alice is still herself and curiosity is the means by which the story is propelled forward, but she too experiences abandonment and subsequent feelings of depression. The looking glass which Alice travels through reflects back her reality and life. And as she goes through this mirror, she enters the different realm of Wonderland. Instead of reflecting my reality back, I decided to use a window as my “looking glass” to create a site-specific installation. On the window frame, I drew a row of houses which all looked similar, but were all slightly different from each other. This is my reality - houses that look to be all the same, but inside those houses are people who lead different lives, going through their own challenges. Looking through the window, I see a small panel of my reality, but taking a step back, this window is not framed by walls that hold me back. Perhaps I am unable to travel through mirrors or follow a rabbit down a hole into a different realm, but my imagination allows me to consider realities beyond the one I live today.
