Midterm Worksheet

Step 1: Develop Ideas

I want to create my personal website that reflects my style, values, and talent as a designer. I want to design a website that is minimalistic and clear in presenting my works. It also has to have intuitive navigation so my audience could enjoy the process of visiting the website. I want to draw inspirations from designers and design firms from Japan because I really like how they are so minimalistic without taking away the functionality of the website.

Step 2: Discovery & Research

I started to research by searching japanese design firms on google and see how they designed their websites. I also went on a website I use often called SAVE to find design inspirations of what I want my website to feel like. Layout and hierarchy wise, I went on other UIUX designer's website to see how they organized their work, about me, and resume so I can also learn from them and see how I can apply to my own website.

Step 3:Target Your Audience

My audience would be mainly other designers in the field or HR people that are looking to hire for their company. They usually only spend less than 3 minutes on a portfolio so I have to impress them with visuals, content and layout so information can be presented clearly and enjoyably. Since I want to do something UIUX related, having a overly stylistic portfolio may take away the content I want to present and the functionality of my website. Therefore, it is important for me to consider how I can organize content in a structurely way but also stand out in visuals and experience.

Step 4: Inspirations & Concepts

My inspiration mainly comes from minimalistic, cool color toned designs and graphics. I went on SAVE to find a few color tone/graphics I liked and also examined other Japanese design websites that I enjoyed. I want to play around with fonts and icons to see how it goes with the overall design and experience with different visuals I put together.
