Intimate Poetry: The Spring Collection

23 year old Shelby Edlund, is publishing her first collection of poems this Spring in collaboration with Penguin Books. Growing up between two continents, the Swedish and American poet pulls imagery and symbolism from Swedish folklore and traditions, urban NYC imagery, technology and sci-fi to reflect on the times deepest desires and fears.
Written initally for a Lyricism and Poetry class at The New School in New York City, Shelby Edlund's Intimate Poetry: THE SPRING COLLECTION is a journey through lust, agony and trepidation of our collective future. 9 poems, each written within a different poetic genre, create a vibrant and electric atmsophere perfect for the start of spring!
This collection features Enchantée, the Seduction poem that narrates the art of courting and blooming of romantic love. The Elegy poem, I mourn the curls that could've been, takes an intimate approach to the pain of internalized western beauty standards and anti-blackness. Playing with the natural elements, environmental anxiety and science fiction, A Nation of Zombies, River of Gluttony provides a thought-provoking ring of protest needed for today's problems.
