TYPOGRAPHY

This 8-page booklet contains excerpts from USA Today’s article titled, “Bling Empire gives Asian Americans time to shine”. The front and back cover read “Asian culture is…private” and the background of all 8 pages feature the words “Asian Culture” censored out. However, the inner spreads display a quote that captures how the collectivist culture is adapting in order to weave even stronger communities. Secrecy is juxtaposed with the beauty of sharing personal stories and potentially connecting with others can relate. Through cut-out treatments of text, this collage highlights the themes of secrecy, censorship, and finding space for racial identity.
