Designing Programmes

Integral. Integral in all aspects of design and art is obviously important, or at least it is theoretically in my mind. When a person is too carried away with one’s work, one tends to focus solely on each character, rather than the piece as a whole. So whenever I find myself being obsessed with one element, my teachers would tell me to look at the art as a whole, as art and design ultimately aims at creating harmony and one outstanding element will not reflect the whole. While I know the theory in my head, however, it is still hard to integrate the integral to my works.

Once printed as it can not be resized, we often treat printed matter as a static property. However, like the edgeless ever-changing web, in the world, there are countless papers that can, although not responsively but can infinitely transform. Well, indeed, it is relatively easier for designers to design on a fixed size, however, as it was mentioned in the reading, according to the time period the typography has changed, so wouldn’t it be plausible for us to change the way we treat the integral in relations to the changing whole - the world?
