Conditional Design

Conditional Design…
Though I understand that process is important, however, maybe it’s because I’m a rationalist, as always the final destination is more important to me. To me, the idea of “although the outcome is not good, as long as the process was meaningful you have accomplished something,” is too idealistic. Of course, artists and designers should have some mystic, however, we live in reality and in reality, at the end of the day people only remember the result. And it is always delightful to see the outcome of the process because it is what makes the process more meaningful.

Because there is a process, there is a result, and because there is a result, there is a process. We go through the process to reach the result. Then, if the process and the result are inseparable, is there a need to differentiate the two? In the reading, it said that conditional design foregrounds process over the finished product, however, like the exercise, if we continue with the process without knowing the what we intended to accomplish, the finished product, was the process meaningful or not? Isn’t is just looping through the process without any destination?
