Artist Statement
In Adeliia’s art practice, she delves into the dynamic interplay of materials, experimenting with their structures, aesthetics, and forms. The fascination in manipulating pre-made figures like hot glue an expanding foam, pushing their boundaries to transcend their initial appearances and purposes drives her work. This process forms a connection between shifting forms, embodying the concept of fluidity, sparking a dialogue between the ever-changing nature of materials and the abstract realms of thought. The material itself evolves into a distinct character, imposing its own rules through its handcrafted structure. This unique aesthetic, a fusion of imagination and tangible form, encapsulates her experiences in a three dimensional, spherical space, providing a personal shield from reality. The artworks are born from channeling inner emotions and unresolved feelings onto a canvas. This act of self-investigation becomes a form of self-healing, a confrontation with truths and realities. Mixed media serves as the bridge, facilitating the flow of thoughts into tangible materials. Immersing in the unconscious stream of thought creates multi-layered, profound personal experiences, translating them into symbolicf ragments of memory. Central to her practice is a reflection on the transformation of biological connections, the tangled web of silenced and unresolved familial relationships. The ability to confront the dissonance within immediate networks through restrained textures grants freedom to grow and create Fluidity is a theme derived unconsciously through a repeated sequences seen in the configuration of colours, aesthetics and their appearance embodying the metamorphic state of her artistic vision throughout a couple of years. Constructing soft sculptures, paintings, drawings and digital works such as AR+VR allows her ‘to push my vision of my frame of mind’. Fluidity is a theme derived unconsciously through a repeated sequences seen in the configuration of colours, aesthetics and their appearance embodying the metamorphic state of my artistic vision throughout a couple of years. Recently her work has been focused on self-investigation of her past memories confronting present time relationships and constructing the future ideals. She has recognised that her surrounding environment deeply impacts her work causing a change of focus on the subject matter, value and her standpoint. Moving to US, gave her the liberty to explore art conceptually, being in UK the work shifts to materials and traditional techniques. She has yet to explore how she is impacted by it.
