Intent

Estudio Plume was created by two female Brazilian architects, Camilla Botoni and Luciana Yokota. They started their business because of their love for concrete and creating things with their own hands. At estudioplume.com.br, Camilla and Luciana write that their interest in concrete stems from the numerous functions and possibilities that the material has, and how something used so avidly in grander and more structured projects can be translated into a more delicate object. The webiste features a lot of Estudio Plume's work, such as vases, furniture, and utilities. In the "Products" tab, the user can scroll through pictures of the objects they make. Estudioplume.com.br also features some of the publications they've been, including Vogue Home and other popular Brazilian magazines such as Casa e Jardim, and Revista Claudia. There's also a contact tab on the website that allows users to contact Camilla and Luciana for possible collaborations or special requests. They also list some of the places that you could check out their products in person. The website's design is very intuitive, making it very easy to switch between different pages.

Voice and Tone

The tone and voice of the website mirrors the tone and voice of their work. Like concrete, the website is designed in a very gridded style, and has a cooler color pallete. The landing page, specifically, is very clean and user friendly. The voice of the website, however, is very consistent throughout all the different pages. Overall, the website is minimal, clean, objective, and intuitive. The tone of the webiste, like the voice, really captures the essence of the work done by the studio. The use of white space across the website also makes it very easy to follow. Estudio Plume's website reflects their style really well. From the logo to the navigation, everything follows a strict color scheme and framework.

New Homeowner

John just bought a new home and is looking for some clean and cool-toned vases to put around his house. He heads over to Instagram, and browses through the different design-based hashtag. He finds Estudio Plume and clicks through link to their profile. Once John opens Estudio Plume's website, he is met with the option to either click on a featured post or in one of the navigation links at the top of the page.

John's attention is immediately drawn to the carrousel in the landing page, where he can learn more about the studio and what kind of products they make. He decides that he really enjoys the studio's work and makes a purchase through their website. Considering that John liked the products so much and that his experience purchasing online was so positive, he decides to bookmark the page for future reference.

Interior Designer

An interior designer stumbles upon the Estudio Plume website looking for some inspiration for a new home she is designing. She heads over to the products page, and finds something that her employer might like. She clicks through the image and lands on the product page. Unfortunately, the item she is interested in only comes in cooler tones, neither of which will fit the home's aeshtetic. She heads over to the contact page and sends the designers a message asking whether they would be able to make something custom for her.

Design Intern

Patty is an undergraduate student at Parsons and just landed his first internship at a design firm. He was asked to research some of the competitors' websites to see what their websites look like. Patty heads to Estudio Plume to look at their design. Patty likes how simple and intuitive the website's design is, and how seamless everything seems to go together. However, Patty would like to have had some more information up front about the studio and the products. He would like to have had a more detailed and interactive experience on the website.

There are a lot of great artisans out there. One of the websites that I looked at that is comparable to Estudio Plume's is casa.diaria.co. Casa Diaria has minimalist objects curated by two Brazilian designers, Raffaele Asselta and Raphael Dias. Their color pallete is similar to Estudio Plume's and the website is really beautiful, but the website doesn't have as much information as Plume's does. You can't browse through the different products as easily, and the design isn't as intuitive. While Estudio Plume's landing page is very clean and minimal, which gives it a very clean and user friendly exterior. Casa Diaria's landing page, on the other hand, gives a little more context to what the user will find by clicking in each picture. This makes it very easy for the user to pick what they want to look at.
