This book focuses on three recent natural disasters:
Hurricane Katrina in New Orleans in 2005, the
earthquake in Haiti in 2010, and
Typhoon Haiyan in the Philippines in 2013. In all three cases, the events caused catastrophic damage to human lives and property. And yet in each case, response to these disasters was delayed and not forthcoming. The articles included in this book are an attempt to answer why the world over, and in particular the United States, failed to answer to the call of need in times of need and extreme devastation and suffering.
