William Maher Knighton
William “Cat” “Catness” “Kitten-Witten” Maher Knighton (born April 12) is an American Tabby cat. Born and raised in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, William took reign over 230 Benezet Street, becoming the big cat on campus in the realm of Benezet from 2010 to present.
Early Life
William was born in the spring of 2010. He grew up on the streets before being brought to the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (ASPCA). He spent several months there, amongst kin and strangers. Days led into nights led into days. Four months past before William was rescued from the ASPCA and welcomed into a new litter, the Maher-Knightons. With time and love, William became Catness, who became fat.
Career
For a short period of time, William engaged in kitten behavior. He spent hours killing rodents and exploring the land, leaving him quiet and exhausted by night. The Maher-Knighton's were very pleased with their choice.
These times were few and far between, however, as William matured and widened into his current corpulent self. Tipping cups and water bowls, he quickly made a new impression on Anna and Ellen in his junior years. William took his talents to the dining and living room furniture, tearing up every nice piece his litter owned, including the leather chair, the green velvet couch, the red kitchen couch, the rugs, the front door window curtain, and the shades.
In his most recent years, William accomplished one of his greatest achievements: knocking over matriarch Ellen Maher’s framed painting, which she had created while in college. Breaking the frame, William was able to get to the painting itself, leaving paw marks as he sauntered across. The marks remain on the unframed piece today, which resides in Ellen Maher’s bedroom, on top of her armoire.
Personal Life
When he is not working at home, William likes to take vacations at 228 Benezet, right next door, to visit his best friend Zach. Unlike William, Zach is unable to leave his house due to physical conditions, but William doesn't mind. He enjoys visiting 228 for the extra food.
William also likes his time with his friend, Anna Knighton, who is a member of his litter. He and Anna became close friends when he was first brought to 230 Benezet, back in July of 2010. Their favorite activities include sitting on the green couch together and Anna petting William.
