About Rouva

Intentional jewellery designed to carry memory across generations

Rouva began with a simple question: how might heritage jewellery feel wearable, expressive, and relevant in everyday life?

The Idea

This project was developed as my Capstone, rooted in a desire to promote meaningful jewellery design. Jewellery is often deeply personal, yet many sentimental pieces are rarely worn.

Rouva exists to bridge that gap — creating objects and rituals that allow people to carry their stories, relationships, and lineage with them in a modern way. Each piece is designed with intention, becoming a small object that carries a family forward.

The Studio & Workshops

Rouva proposes an independent jewellery studio that designs heritage-inspired jewellery and hosts guided design workshops.

These workshops are structured around a card game that prompts reflection, conversation, and connection. Participants may attend alone, with friends, or with family members — designing a piece for someone else or for each other.

Through guided discussion, sketching, and hands-on making, participants translate memory and emotion into form.

From Memory to Object

Participants are introduced to the lost wax carving process and guided through designing a jewellery piece with intention. Using the skills learned, they carve their own wax model, which is then cast by the studio into real metal.

Two to four weeks later, the completed piece is sent to the recipient — along with sketches, notes, and the original card prompts used in the design process. Participants are also invited to reflect on how accurately the piece captured the person it was made for.
