1) Develop Your Idea
I want to create a informative website that shows resources of school and collage for art students. The reason for doing this is that I've been through difficulties in finding school and comparing information when I apply for collage. I want to create a space for students to cut through all the information and get to know all the schools and options they have. This website will be helpful in a way that schools are shown in different countries and people can search according to their preference.
2) Discovery and Research
As a starting point, I researched for website that are search engine and show resources based on acadamic information. NICHE is a webstie explores the schools in different area based on key statistics and millions of student and parent reviews. In the website, there are clean layout with a header and title. There are also tags that leads people to different school catalog. The website also has simple graphic dividing the information into groups and I also look at more famous website such as US National University RankingsUS NEW This website shows most schools in the US but it is only showing US school. The ranking for schools will give people prejudement or bais on schools that are more behind in the ranking. Also, I'm not very convinced by the way they rank it because a "better" school tend to be more shown in the front and that makes it harder for schools that are "naturally" at the back. Therefore, I dont't want to make a website that is rank based, but only showing all the options for art school that people could have. I want to focus on art school becuase there are usually general collages with all the majors but art school is a very small part of it. There is not a lot of webstite focusing on art school. I want to create a useful resource for students who are interested in art school.
3) Target Your Audience
My audience is people who are interested in art and design and planning to apply for art school. It could be high school students or current collage students. I want to create a platform for more information. Also, students who are already in one of those school can get more information about their similar school as well. Moreover, the audience will most likely be part of the education industry such as teachers and professors.
4) Inspirations
I will create a colorful background with gradient color to give a more uplifting vibe overall. I also make my own logo. It is all drawn by me using illustrator. I put a little girl one the colorful planet to show that this website is exploring creatige idea from all around the world.
5) Thumbnails and Sketches
By using photoshop, I created three versions of the website showing how I want the website to look like. From top to bottom there is on laptop, ipad, and phone.
