In Defense of the Poor Image

Hito Steyerls point of privatization is interesting.

Stating, “But, on the other hand, the rampant privatization of intellectual content, along with online marketing and commodification, also enable piracy and appropriation; it gives rise to the circulation of poor images.”

Creating more private institutions leads to the means of higher productions and higher images while also increases the poor images as people try to bootleg their own versions to have. The poor image could be seen as a Robin Hood.

This article made me much more interested in poor images as they are the remains of something high quality or what used to be worth something. It tells a story of reproduction and surviving as it is copied and sent of hundreds of thousands of times.
