The intial piece of text that caught my attention was that, one way a website can en more energy efficient is by being powered by solar energy.Reading this article makes me realize how muxh people use the internet ona daily bases. It also made me think back to the days when I was very little and still really did not hav e concept of what WIFI was or what it did. Even back in the days when people used Razor or BlackBerry phones the internet and people's addiction to it did not seem as intense as it is now. After reading this article the concept someone using two electronic devices at once alsmot seems enviromentally hurtful as someone setting trash on fire. This article aslo makes me think of Data Minder and how much energy it takes to mine it and to keep the platfrom up and running.
It makes sense that their users changed more over the years to accessing thier information through mobile devices. I see more and more people using their phones to figure things and it just has become almost a neccesity for the modern person. Now living in this generation the average person who has a phone essentially has the internet in the palm of their hand no matter where they go. The most shoking and suprising part of this article for me was when I saw the graphic on how much data they saved just by chaging the small aspect of having the images load as you scroll. This small changed saved terabytes of data which gives me hope that this issue of energy efficiency will work itself out.
