This text sparked a curiousity in me to see what websites look like now vs. the era the text was talking. I noticed the websites in the past around (90's to early 2000's) have a much more bare-bones,handmade feel to them. The websites now have a much more cooporate, cold feel to them. Websites now have a much more streamline, colder feel which is what I think the student is talking about. The Author says that the web needs to be taken back by the users and taken away from the big companies like Facebook, Twitter, and Google. The people need to stear the web back into the right direction. I agree and disagree with this statement. The web should always be under the control of the people but let's not discredit what all these companies have brought to the fore-front and how they have changed our lives. Yes in someways the creation of social media is bad but there have been many other upsides to these new advancements like paypal, venmo, uber to name a few. These new creations have already changed lives for the better in such a short perid of time.
