BIODIVERSITY LOSS

THAT'S A BIG TERM, WHAT EVEN IS BIODIVERSITY?
Biodiversity is the variety of life on Earth at every level possible and also includes the evolutionary, ecological and social processes that these lives go through. Biodiversity is one of the most important and threatened aspects of climate injustice.
Biodiversity brings to us many services that we overlook. There are ecological, biological and social benefits that are maintained due to diversity. Biodiversity is necessary because it shows how each life has a valuable role in the chain and also has the right to exist. Biodiversity brings us a step closer to sustainability.
“At least 40 per cent of the world’s economy and 80 per cent of the needs of the poor are derived from biological resources. In addition, the richer the diversity of life, the greater the opportunity for medical discoveries, economic development, and adaptive responses to such new challenges as climate change” – The Convention about Life on Earth
