PORTFOLIO WORKSHEET

DEVELOP YOUR IDEA

I want my final website to incorporate techniques and coding we have learnt in the semester. While that was my major target, I am very intrigued by folding items and the introduction of compact lifestyle. While brainstorming it came to my realization that I can combine a lot of responsive and navigational design with the idea of foldable design. I want to create a website that promotes the use of collapsible items in daily lifestyle and justifies to the audience the selling point. I believe that although folding, collapsible items have now started becoming famous, they haven't been given enough attention in terms of spreading and promoting the idea and how they can capture so many more consumers. It is a link to product design which is a very keen interest of mine. Why a product is made the way it is? It is going to be a development to my previous website wherein navigation, prominent boldness of certain elements and interaction will be very visible. My website could also link to companies that produce such items. I want it to have a touch of my style; clean, focused and minimal.

DISCOVERY AND RESEARCH

COLAPZ

Colapz is a website where they sell folding and collapsible items. Their mission is to revolutionise "everyday objects, making them clever, compact, colourful and eco-friendly". I think this website was very important for me because I could see what all is there out in the market. It also showed how the products were presented which I found was a very standard way in e-commerce sites. I really liked that they had a blog page, I would be interested in adding a blog page to my site.

CHARLES AND EAMES RAY

This would yet be a favorite of mine. A website dedicated to the designs of Charles and Ray Eames is one of the best websites I have come across. The way things move, align and resize when you scroll up and down through the pages is remarkable. Even with so much motion, the audience doesn’t get lost. It is so interesting to see how they’ve used only 2-3 prominent colors and bold but necessary graphics to begin the page. There is not much jumping from one page to another rather a slide to the next section. I think the user experience is incredible and extremely captivating just like their important and major influential designs in the field of furniture. I also love how the categories are divided according to timelines which makes it much more informational and educational. All in all, a true vision.

COCOON

This was a random website I stumbled across while researching about responsiveness. The highlight was the sliding feature on the homepage which took the audience to the following page. It was slightly difficult to go back to the home page but I found the idea of slide and navigate very interesting.

TARGET YOUR AUDIENCE

My target audience would include mainly consumers and firms that produce such products. While firms can look at the way products have been displayed and its presentation, collaborators should be able find a spot for network. The consumers can be convinced as to why they should invest in compact products fir an efficient style of living.
