Make it Better

Implement a feature to an Android App!

We all receive anonymous calls from time to time. While some may be wrong numbers, even the important ones raise a sense of suspicion about whether to accept it or not. I think it'd be a great addition to phones if the callers were able to include a small memo about the reason behind their call.

This proposition aims to modify the app simply titled "Phone" in most Android and Apple devices. It is used to call individuals, receive calls and coordinate through a list of past calls. In Android, there's usually a shortcut to the "Contacts" app which the user can use to select a previously saved person to connect with them without the need of re-entering their numbers, removing the requirement of memorizing them. This has been the norm for the last 2 decades.

Nevertheless, "Phone" is being used less and less due to applications such as WhatsApp, Skype and Facebook's Messenger which merge the abilities of texting and calling through the use of the internet not affliated with the user's subscribed network. They cost less and are more reliable. However, these apps mostly cater to an audience commmunicating with people whose profiles and information they've already registered.

Therefore, "Phone" is heavily used by a demographic we define as anonymous, especially when we're oblivious of whom it may be on the other side of the call. Over the years, scammers have been associated with blocked or unknown numbers. Now, whenever the phone calling hasn't been previously registered, and the person isn't expecting a call; there's suspicion about whether the call is of importance leading people like me, personally, to not take it and wait for a voicemail. This proposition of adding a quick memo to the call can also help us determine its urgency, such as in a situation where the user might be busy or unavailable.
