Website Analysis

Intent

Brodie Kerst Productions was launched by an architect that found a liking for videography and combined both passions. He's worked for firms and companies such as the Frank Lloyd Wright Foundation creating videographic architecture landscapes to help them promote themselves.

Voice

Kerst works mainly freelance through creating niche storytelling with this unique mix of design branches. The work illustrated in his portfolio coordinates to the aesthetics of everyone he helps design for. But Kerst is aware of the consistency that still allows his style to read through each silhouetted project.

Tone

The tone of the website is very much characterized to show a professional and serious architect. The home page immediately showcases his most proud projects with access to more projects from the get go. Then on his about page, he gives a quick few sentences on his foundation for architecture and the transitoin into video. Kerst makes this website more about his work than about himself as an artist. This is achieved due to the fact that he already has so much experience and large design projects to present.

Brand

Kerst's brand identity is so clear and representative of his connection to design. Even though we don't learn much about the artist himself, his work speaks for itself. He's a professional with a lot of experience and ability to offer. Although the silhouette of his website is introduced with dark blues and white as the primary colors, the portfolio work he shows at the start of the website simply adds eccentric colors. He managed to make this all about his work without taking away from himself which is really inspirational.

Persona

This website can be widely appreciated by any audience. The appearance of 3D design is fascinating and the motions captured by videography add an extra layer that can inevitably grasp anyone's attention. It's clear that this designer is talented with the work he puts forth at the start of the home page; it gives enough for an audience to see and entices people to want to work with him.

PERSONA

Small Business partners

A small business started in the small town Chili, New Mexico has gathered so much traction in the past 6 months that they feel confident enough to expand with an additional location. They're not very art affiliated but all they have filed in a google drive folder is their signature color palette, mediocre logo, and potential rent locations to expand to. They come upon Brodie Kerst's instagram reels while scrolling social media to unwind. They decide to message him on his instagram profile. They were attracted to the vast architecture he showcases and realize that he designed all these places himself. They ask him to create a 3D render of the look for their future location. With works of his such as PopCourts, in which he designed the new appearance for a basketball court, he experiments with eclectic forms of designing the color scheme and silhouette of the place.

Family Home redesign

A family of 5 has lived in the same house in Baltimore for 13 years and is very much attached to the place. They no longer feel comfortable with the rusty appearance and old-fashioned architecture of the place. But they also can't part with the house because it holds so many memories. Monica, wife and mother of 3, is feeling very down about the stress of her house one dreary work day. While at work that same day, she starts conversing with a co-worker about her problem, and she tells her about this fabulous architect who helped her redesign her entire kitchen and living room to have a modern contemporary appearance. Monica doesn't hesitate to request his info and excitedly calls her husband, Johnson, with the news. They proceed to contact Kerst with their house dilemma and hire him to redesign the entire dining, living, kitchen, and bedrooms.

Seafood Restaurant exterior

A famous 4 star seafood restaurant in Cape May, New Jersey is known for their theatrical interior filled with gargantuan crab claws and dolphin-shaped chairs. The restaurant is so infamous as it's set in a very touristy vacation area. It's exterior appearance is starting to deteriorate and it has such a plain gray palette, which they'd finally like to change to match the interior vibrance of the place. The owner of the restaurant is always very friendly and makes sure to greet all customers. One day, an architect is on vacation with his friends and starts talking to the owner about their adoration for the playful appearance of his restaurant. He really makes the owner's day, so the owner tells him he actually wishes to redesign the outside because it's so bland. Being that the architect is on a much needed vacation, he says that he's happy to connect him to one of his great friends, Kerst, who's an up and coming architect. The owner is so appreciative and within a matter of days, Kerst responds with motivation to start right away.

SUBHEADING 2: ABOUT

Anabella Orellana is an illustrator breaking out of her comfort zone into the fields of product and communications design. She’s currently an undergraduate student at Parsons School of Design. Prior to university, she was a student at the High School of Art and Design with a focus in illustration. She was introduced to Adobe platforms and gained skills in 2D art. Her love for mixed media only grew as she started to discover her style. She strived to make her pieces realistic with strong narrative connotations. Everything was to be measured accurately and withhold purpose. These elements became an important part in everything she created and they continue to be a signature aspect to her digital, product and 3D design work. Anabella is currently employed by Equity For Children through The New School Federal Work Study. She takes on the position of Communications Assistant and was recently named the Translation Manager as well. Her social media expertise and Spanish fluency cater to keeping the administration organized and being of assistance when necessary. This job has also allowed her to embrace her growing design skills. As a sophomore attending The New School, Anabella has become more proficient in design. Through mastering Adobe and hands on training in wood-shop, laser-cutting and 3D printing; as well as fusion 360, solid works, and blender 3D platforms, she continues to challenge herself. Her dedication to creating and learning new ways to create would be an excellent asset to a range of businesses. Most importantly, she offers her devoted passion in arts and design.

COMPETITION

Brodie Kerst's website is really representative of his artistic background. It lacks artistic identity, however. I made the claim that the works he exhibits throughout his website show his talents and style. But we don't get to know him as an artist enough. For my website, I want there to be a balance of myself and the work I showcase. It's more important to me being that I am still a student. I think that if I was a proffesional, I could get away with being in the sidelines while my art and design work do all the talking.
