A Handmade Web ✳

1. In J.R Carpenter’s “A Handmade Web”, he defines a handmade web to be a multitude of things: comparing a website to a handbook or manual. It is the active updating and adding onto a website. It is quite literally handmade by your fingers on a keyboard. He also uses the term to evoke a connection between handmade print and handmade web. What is the correlation between a webpage and something meant for print? Is it composition? Is it the individual elements? (Like a magazine or collage)

2. Carpenter also claims the handheld devices are distancing us away from the handmade aspect of a webpage, as it allows us to not view the sources or inspect elements. Are access to these properties really integral in having something be called “handmade”?
