My proposal for the final project entails the development of a
sophisticated website specializing in the retail and
recommendation of literature focused on personal development.
Encompassing a diverse array of genres, including nonfiction
self-help, memoirs, biographies, and fiction with profound
thematic elements, our platform will cater to discerning
individuals seeking to augment their personal growth journey.
Targeting ambitious individuals and those eager to broaden their
perspectives, my platform aims to serve as a comprehensive
resource for self-improvement enthusiasts. Proposed title for
platform: ATLAS
ATLAS is a comprehensive platform dedicated to personal growth
and self-improvement through the power of books. We curate a
diverse selection of literature, spanning from nonfiction
self-help to inspiring memoirs and thought-provoking fiction.
Our platform serves ambitious individuals seeking to expand
their perspectives, enhance their knowledge, and chart their
path to success. With personalized book recommendations,
engaging content, and a vibrant community, Atlas empowers users
to navigate their journey of self-discovery and achieve their
goals.

Discovery and Research
The main competitor service that is known for recommending books
is Goodreads. Goodreads is the go-to platform for readers
to rate books, connect with other readers, write reviews, and
discover new books. I want my platform to do all the same
things, but perhaps for a more specific audience that I
discussed. However, I draw inspiration from their personalized
recommendations, booklists and genre listings, and ability for
other readers to look at what other peope are reading.
The main competitor service that is known for selling books is
Amazon. Amazon is the go to platform to buy books, as it
has fast and reliable shipping, an algorithm that allows it to
make personalized suggestions based on your previous
reading/purchases, and a direct connection to Amazon Kindle. I
think that it will be difficult for my website to compete with
Amazon in terms of purchasing and shipping books, therefore I
want it to be an aid to Amazon. It is a service for basically
advertising books, and it could perhaps provide direct links to
the books on Amazon, or it could offer a point system that would
lead to discounts on books that can be used on Amazon.
Additional inspiration and similar platforms: TED Talks
TED Talks is the type of platform that I think my target
audience would use or be inspired by. Their content seeks to
inspire, and people are invited to give speeches on new ideas or
bring unique insights. I want my platform, with its suggestions,
to also offer a place where people can expand their
perspectives, or use to learn something new.

Target Your Audience
My target audience for this website will be individuals who are
ambitious and driven, perhaps career-driven, and have a high
interest in self-improvement and personal growth. With this
audience in mind, I intend for the UI design to be professional,
immersive, and minimalistic, as I believe that a clean and
sophisticated aesthetic will be the most appealing to these Type
A kinds of people. With that being said, I also think that the
concept of the website would appeal to avid book readers and
people that are more sensible and open-minded to expanding their
perspective. I think that adding a few creative elements so that
the UI of the website is not so futuristic and stiff will make
the website more universally appealing to both audiences.
Additionally, I plan to make the color scheme mature and one
that suggests growth, hence my choice for a dark green palette.
