This project brings together the desktop and mobile device to deliver
a new experience of the famous Manhattan skatepark LES Coleman. The park
which is located in the Lower East Side of Manhattan(Chinatown) has been
around since the late 80's. Before being turned to a skatepark it was used
by skaters to practice tricks as the many rails and grinds and ramps
provided nice grounds for many skaters. As well protecting skaters from
the rain and un-skateable weather as it was underneath the Manhattan Bridge.
Many skaters come everyday and this application will provide unique service
and experience for newly skaters, or skaters who don't know about the park.
Split into both mobile and desktop, the mobile aspect of the application
provides the user with actual footage of a skater skating around the park
through a worm's eye perspective. The viewer gets to see not only what the
park has to offer but how many people are usually there and get to access
which area they would like to skate as the park offers various kinds of
structures for all kinds of skating. The desktop version provides the user
a more hands on experience as they get to ride around a low-poly version
of the park tweaked visually by designer Richard Supriano. Ultimately this
application goal is to provide skaters of both visual and hands off experience
of one of the lovelier places to skate not only in New York City but the East
Coast.
