Quiet Train was a public performance / installation on the G train in NYC. This project was inspired by my sound studies and living in New York with tinnitus. The MTA is a specific site of high noise pollution as well as a highly trafficed area. The idea was to inspire a meditation on sound amongst the commuters. I referenced John Cage's opus 4'33 as well as the modern sound treatment on the second avenue subway line created by the acoustic engineers at ARUP on the posters.

The reactions were scattered; some communters gladly took the earplugs provided and participated in the impromptu quiet train - others denied the directions and some made noise intentionally. All of the responses were appreciated :]
