Reconstruct / Deconstruct

This project aims to explore the relationship between deconstruction and reconstruction through garment transformation. By selecting two existing pieces of clothing and dissecting their structures, materials, and functions, I reassembled them into a new hybrid form. The process challenges the original identity of both garments, creating a new piece that redefines structure, silhouette, and function.

Initial Sketch

I initially decided to use a patchwork of different materials to make my dress and the final garment was a little different from the sketch but still the same overall. In my original draft, I wanted to make the neckline a crewneck, but while I was making it I realized that having a short pair of jeans with a crewneck at the same time wasn't very realistic, so I decided to make it off the shoulder. My inspiration and silhouettes for this project were largely inspired by Rick Owens.
