MAMMON

(Oil on canvas, 600 x 600mm)

Mammon is a biblical word associated with the greedy pursuit of gain. Historically, pig has been the representation of wealth in Chinese culture, whereas the mask symbolizes hypocrisy. This painting represents a turning point of peaceful interactions between human and nature as conveyed in previous paintings; it pointed out the purposeful deception and concealment linked with greedy monetarism as the chief culprit of this deteriorating relationship between humanity and the natural environment.
