Vessel

Wood, Woodglue, Wire 2025

1x2in each

This sculpture explores the idea of vessels both as containers and as living systems that communicate movement and flow. Starting from a single 2x4 plank of wood, I carved and shaped the material to display the branching forms of veins in a geometric way. The varying sizes and abstraction illustrates the complexity and order found within organic structures. The wire elements represent blood cells: dynamic, circulating, and alive placed within the carved wood to emphasize the relationship between form and function. The organic shapes of the wire contrasts with the geometric feel of the wood. The wood acts as the vessel, a structured pathway, while the wire embodies the energy and motion that it carries. They create a dialogue between rigidity and fluidity, structure and movement mirroring the tension and harmony found within the human body itself.
