designing programs by karl gerstner

i find the formatting of this book to be really confusing, as well as the content. i can see the links to both typography in design and coding, but i am just confused about the ordering and brining up of various things.

i'm quite curious as to whether or not the author was involved in the design of the book/text. a focus is the uses of different sizes and formats with the same content, that retains its original design, while still being different. yet the text of the book feels a bit boring to me and repetitive visually to the point that it is difficult to focus on and absorb.

i do think that the points being made about how we alter design depending on the audience and medium are important, but i think coincidentally enough the format of the text does not necessarily think about the audience as readers rather than just designers.
