my website is a shifting house... by laurel schwulst

I think that the different metaphors used creates a very interesting approach to the web, particularly the handmade web. Knowing Laurel's work makes the reading make more sense than it would have coming from another artist.

I feel that I am still left asking the question posed by her students. How do we make websites that can do things like having forms and the ability to buy things? Is it just different plugins that can be incorporated into our own handmade sites? I think this is what many students mean when they say "an actual website," something similar to what we are used to seeing when we online shop or visit a website of someone (that has usually used some sort of template). We know how do the basics, but how do we do the more (or seemingly more) complicated things that allow us to function as something closer to a business than just an individual?
