Worksheet (8 Steps)

Develop Your Idea

My website should feel like a toy. It should feel playful, highly interactive and reesponsive, like you're looking at a living document and not just a static screen. I also want there to be lots of content to dig through, I want people to have fun doing some "web archaeology" of sorts on my site, digging up all the weird and wonderful things I make. It should be very visual and graphic. Each page should have a different design, so that the UI can best serve the content, but each page should still be cohesive enough in the design that you don't think you've stumbled onto someone else's site somehow.

Discovery and Research

My inspiration is ribo.zone, my favorite site. I love the graphic and collaged style. Every design decision feels unique and intentional, between the images, layouts, and typography. It's an immersive experience with a strong and unique personality. That's exactly what I want to replicate.

Target Audience

My target audience is mainly creative people. This webpage is my digital "hub", so everyone from employers, to friends and family, to classmates and teachers will be seeing this. I want this website to be a direct reflection of me, so in this way, the audience is just everyone who I'd interact with, and everyone who might like to see my work.

Inspiration and Concepts

My main inspiration is my own desk. It's cluttered and messy with whatever project I'm working on, it's full of unique knick-knacks and trinkets. Replicating that in some way would be super fun, giving everyone an intimate look at the place I sit and do my work, focusing on scattered images with clear labels, and a unique and playful UI.

Thumbnails, Sketches, Wireframes and Prototypes

I developed my design further by sketching in Procreate and making a Figma whiteboard: Sketch Figma Whiteboard

Reflection

The next step is for me to make the images that will appear on the site, most likely by scanning items of mine and photoshopping the background out. One potential challenge may be figuring out how to design in a less rigid way, so it doesn't just look like images on a grid. I'm very excited to design my digital home!
