[go back!]

Hypermedia is a nonlinear form of information that includes graphics, audio, video, text, and the hyperlinks between them. It is mainly characterized by its interactive and immersive nature.

My body of work acts as a snapshot of life in the twenty-first century by using those visual mediums in conjunction with interactive media. Hyperconnection, spirituality, love, paranoia, and technology all serve as topics of discussion.

I’ve always considered art to be a deconstructive process. To experience art, in some way, is to pick it apart and look inside to see what makes it tick. Hypermedia has always been an artistic attraction of mine for this exact reason. By inviting the viewer to interact with a piece, they participate in the work. The invisible wall between the art and the audience is broken, and they become a part of the piece. I aim to leave my audience feeling empowered, connected, informed, loved, and understood.

I make art exclusively in the unoccupied hours of my day. My studio may be a proper art room, or it may be the early mornings before sunrise and crowded buses where I remain isolated and alone. I silence my thoughts and the world around me as I let my mind take complete control. I explode onto the canvas. I work with incredibly saturated and bold mediums, undoubtedly inspired by the extremely graphic and avant-garde nature of graffiti and pop art. Oil pastel, paint marker, and saturated acrylics combine with motion and movement to make a statement and evoke a visceral reaction. I work on scraps of paper, discarded cardboard, and other unwanted ephemera. I execute my work with messy syntax, childlike imagery, and precise chaos. I aim to be violent without being graphic, loud without being angry, and bohemian without being snobby.

Maybe my creations will amount to nothing more than screaming into the void when this is all said and done. For the time being, I hope you find solace and comfort in my sketches, poems, and chiefly teenage scrawblings.
