Midterm worksheet (8-steps)

1. Developing my idea

For the website I will create, I want it to clearly show my intent. I want it to represent me, my designing abilities, and some of my personality. Depending on my coding abilities, I would like this website to also be fun and interactive.
Since I am trying to focus more of my designs towards the music industry, I want this website to feel familiar to people who will be interested in my designs. For example, taking heavy inspiration from streaming platforms such as Spotify or Apple Music, or going more analog and designing something related to records or CDs.

2. Discovery and Research

website #1 : Spotify Web Player

The first webpage I looked at was the spotify web player. I wanted to take inspiration from this as I like how the interface is easy to understand even though it contains lots of content. I think that this is a great webpage that I can take inspiration from as it is familiar with many people. For example, the discovery page could contain my different projects and designs.

website #2: Eli Marigo Design

Another website I really like is this portfolio website by Eli Marigo. Their webpage shows all of their designs right off the bat, with draggable elements where visitors can feel like they are discovering her designs by hand. Their navigation blends in to the background, which is also very cool. Her personality and art style really shows through the website, I think that is really important.

3. Target Audience

My target audience would be hiring managers at record labels who are looking to hire advertising interns. I hope to be able to send this portfolio in along with my application to show my designing skills. Other than hiring managers, small independent musical artists would also be my target audience. I hope to find people who will like my designs and hire me to help excecute their ideas.

4. Introductory Framing and Concluding Call to Action

This website will introduce itself by immediately showing that it is a website with a collection of past works. That will already be on the main page, allowing visitors to immediately understand what they are looking at. And the call to action would be my "contact me" button. Something that says "if you like my designs, let's work together!"

5. Inspiration and concepts

Here is a moodboard I created to show the vibe/aesthetic that I am going for. I am thinking that each playlist could represent one project of mine, and there could be an alement of movement (inspired by the record on the top left). I also included the bottom right image of the crush website as I wanted to remind myself to keep my designs clean and simple so the website itself does not overpower my works.

6. Thumbnail & sketches

Here is a quick sketch of what I want my page to look like when visitors first enter it.

7. Wireframe & prototype

Here are some prototyes of different wireframe compositions based on different devices:

8. Photoshop comp

Here is a photoshop composition of what the landing page of the website should look like:
