"Hyper-Real",2016
Hyper-Real is an organization bringing awareness to the over editing of the female body in the media. The most recent campaign "A Bigger Butt in Seconds" took place in Washington Square Park, New York City in April 2016. My contibution was made by designing the logo and promotional sticker, engaging with the public as well as putting together the campaign video.
The term "hyper-real" is defined as 1.extremely realistic in detail or 2. exaggerated in comparison to reality
The fashion industry has unfortunately chosen to go with the second option-- setting the standards for Women's body image to be so perfect, it literally does not even exist.
Using powerful programs, fashion photographers are able to morph model's bodies into this non existent mold in seconds, bringing their waist in here, enlarging their breasts there, brushing away blemishes, scars, birth marks and wrinkles all in a matter of a few clicks.
Hyper-Real exists to abolish these standards for good, and we've begun by enlarging butts.
