Assignment 02

Designing for the Web (8 Steps)

01. Develop Idea

The point I would like to solve through my portfolio website is to create allure webpages that attract people’s eye, emphasize my creative works, and showcase my skills and interests in a well-organized and visually attractive manner. I prefer my portfolio website to serve as a brand website for allowing the viewers’ purchasing pursuit and fellow recruiters to announce me and my works effectively. My goal is to create a website with minimalistic design, viewing clean and approachable but representing the characteristics of my design.

02. Discovery and Research

I researched a variety of other product designer’s portfolio websites and noticed how they categorized their works in their visual layout and how they navigated them. Each of their websites has their own unique styles, themes, and concepts, which influenced how to represent my works and create a product that will be allure to others with my own preference.

Fukusawa's website is consistently clean, balanced, and minimal. His website uses white background and simple, modern font to empathize the scene of his products. He uses animation on the projects' images to catch the viewer's eye. Everything is quite muted in terms of vibrance but not boring. It makes people only focus on the work. It is easy to navigate throughout and simply recognize all information at a glance.

Romanelli’s portfolio website is minimalistic, modern, and well-organized. His portfolio mostly uses a neutral tone to create the contrast between the background and the images of his works. It makes people concentrate on his work and easily navigate how the product is utilized. By using clean and modern fonts for the explanations of his works and information, the website represents the unique characteristics of his design.

03. Target Audience

Target audience for my website is potentially employers or recruiters who are looking at a more in-depth of my creative design and works. It is fellow designers or people, who work in other fields and would like to collaborate their projects with product designers. I would love to create an engaging user experience for my audience with a clean, well-organized design, but also attracting others’ interest into my website and showing more of my works.
