For my final website I want to create a site that sells the jewelry I make (so far I have plexiglass earrings and rings but I hope to learn how to make thing with metal also). The problem I want to solve is to create a brand and a consistent aesthetic throughout the website that stands out as unique rather than copying another brand. I also want to make the earrings seem less artisanal as currently they are only sold on Etsy, which is fine but not as professional/high quality-feeling as I’d like. I think I want the site to sell the earrings as something that doesn’t seem handmade yet still is. Overall, my main goal is to sell the earrings in a more professional way, almost creating my own brand or company with them.
During my research I looked at a few jewelry websites from a few different price ranges. The first one I looked at was Jane D'Arensbuourg's website. She is a designer who has a studio and showroom in Brooklyn and her pieces are very expensive – all around the $200 range – because they are unique and handmade. Her site was very simple which I like but I don't think her website's aesthetic is really what I want to go for with my own website.
I also looked at Post, a pretty affordable jewelry company that I've been following for a while. They make mostly metal jewelry which is pretty minimalistic. I really like the font choices on this site as well as the colour blocking. I also thought the way that Post includes information in a collapsable menu on each listing was really nice.
Another website I looked at was Middle Child, also in the mid-range of prices. I like the illustrated logo on this site and the way the cart looks (even though it's pretty generic, I feel like it's the easiest to use out of the ones I looked at). I didn't like all the labels on the products for the home page, it feels too crowded to me.
The last website I looked at is Mejuri, which is on the lower end of the expensive/luxury brands of jewelry. This is definitely a more luxury aesthetic than I want to go for but I like the type of product photos they include and the fact that they also have a video of the product in use. I also like the use of circles for the colour options on the listings.

My audience is people looking to buy jewelry, mainly younger people with a clean and modern or minimalistic aesthetic. I want to target people who are willing to spend money on my product but are also looking for something that is good quality at a relatively low price.
