Personal Note

The mining information is from the Word Gold Council, this means that the source may be biased and may bend the truth to present the topic in the best light. Gold mining, especially in conflict countries, is a major human rights issue that effects the lives of many; in these countries, workers are being run under slave conditions and are only paid the bare minimum to legally classify as laborers, often times against thier own will or being forced through social and economic pressure.

These mine owners and operators get away with this because they are typically powered by local rebellions that have more authority and influence than the regional or national government. Major corporations around the world continue to turn a blind eye and use this illegally harvested gold in thier products, such as laptops, phones, and other electronics.
