Idea Development
I want to make a website that sells small whale plushies/keychains which I created last semester. My intent is to sell them while utilizing both my illustrative ability as well as my coding skills I’ve learned from this semester in order to create a fun and playful experience.
Discovery and Research
Looking around at websites for inspiration, I found three websites which stood out to me.
The Little Forest Ceramic Shop Example of an artist selling 3d artwork (ceramics) which stood out to me because most artists with a shop that I’m aware of sell prints of their artwork or more simple things to produce such as pins and stickers. I like how the images of the products being sold are responsive to being hovered over. The big image of a collection of work by the artist at the bottom of the page is also very fun in order to showcase the wide variety of pieces which this artist has made.
Miamouz I like how cute this website design is as it matches with the aesthetic of the products which this artist is selling. The overall tone of the website and the artist’s work is quickly and solidly established and shows a variety of the types of products the artist makes and sells. The photo in the about section is fitting as it’s the artist at a convention with a collection of their work set up on the table in front of them.
Bea Baranowska I like the animation on the chicken as it immediately draws the attention and breathes some life into the website. It makes me wish there were more moving parts to the elements in the header. The handwritten font works really well with the artist’s artstyle. The grid layout of the “shop by collections” section is made more organic and interesting because of the clever usage of negative space and color in the background of the illustrations being utilized here as buttons.
Target Audience
My target audience for this would be people who enjoy cute small handcrafted stuffed animals, and also maybe people who like collections as there’s multiple colors for the hearts on the back of my whales which I personally thoroughly enjoyed when I had finished making a full collection of them for my seminar final last semester.
Inspiration/Moodboard

Maybe a monochrome blue with highlights of red? Water theming, spin a story about the whales and include some animated assets? I really enjoyed this puzzle from phantom hourglass where you have to map out an uncharted island to figure out where and what order to flip the switches around the island with the reveal that the island is in the shape of a whale and the clue refers to different body parts of the whale to indicate the order.

Sketches on Procreate in order to visualize what will the pages of my website will look like as I didn't have enough time to fully flesh these out nice and pretty.
^ Home page idea, hopefully with stop motion.
Wireframes/Responsive Mockups
Figuring out how these webpages would look like for different devices, the desktop version being the above section.
