Sketching
First the charms were going to depict more stylized bears and rabbits. The first prototypes had large “X” eyes with small noses. However, the bears of this style still looked like rabbits. Additionally, they looked extremely similar to the character Miffy according to classmate feedback. I then shifted the subject of the charm to polar bears and redesigned the face.
Embroidery Development
After this design change, I also optimized the embroidery file to allow for the fastest processing. I removed the teardrop as switching out the embroidery threads would take a lot of extra time. I then also combined the ears with the head to make sewing easier instead of having the ears separate. Then I made a running stitch to outline the shape of the bear face to make cutting out the shape easier.
