5 in 5 Project #2 – The outline pencil figure drawing – Analog

Okay, so today I’m going to talk a little bit about my outline figure drawing or what’s most commonly referred to as “line art”. Line drawings usually show the outline of the subject, and not the volume or mass of an object. Lines or contours are a way to describe the edge of a form & indicate dramatic changes of plane within the form. My constraint for this project was a 40 minute time limit, so today I had a bit more time then the last project. I guess it worked out well because this is normally how artists work. You start out with laying out the composition & creating the foundation of basic form within the composition, which is done quickly & once that’s defined you move on to the black & white detail, then ink the figure, in this case can also be done digitally which will be tomorrow’s digital/analog project, once that’s complete you can then add color.
