TH18 Strategy Overview

Compare attack styles by difficulty, army type, strengths, and best usage scenarios.

AIR MEDIUM

66 Dragon Push

Counters Rocket Backpack and Giant Arrow bases

This strategy uses the Archer Queen and Siege Barracks / Dragon King to clear both sides of the base and create a strong funnel, allowing the Double Dragons, Grand Warden, and Minion Prince to push directly through the center. It is a strong and reliable three-star strategy, especially in the current Legend League meta, where many bases are designed to defend against Rocket Backpack and Giant Arrow attacks. This army can avoid those common anti-meta setups and attack the base from a different angle.

Rocket Backpack Arrow

Compact and spread-out bases

This strategy uses Giant Arrow and Rocket Backpack with Earthquake Spells to create strong early value, then follows up with Dragon Riders to clean through the base. For compact bases, the main goal is to maximize the value of Giant Arrow and Rocket Backpack. For spread-out bases, the priority is to plan the path for the main army, using the arrow based on where the Dragon Riders need to go. Make sure both heroes still have follow-up value after using their abilities.

Thrower Walk

Ground bases with clear pathing

This is one of the strongest ground strategies in the current meta. Throwers have a long 6-tile attack range, which makes the attack path much easier to plan. The simplest way to use this army is to send all Throwers straight from the front, while using heroes on both sides to clear the buildings. Because of their long range, Throwers can stay near the center and still destroy nearby buildings on both sides. With the Log Launcher, they can easily break into the core and keep dealing damage. Another option is to use the Barbarian King to clear one side, then let the Throwers move around the base and take everything down as they go.

Super Bowler Smash

Compact and core-heavy bases

Super Bowlers have been around for a long time, but they have been a relatively weak strategy in the past few updates. In the current meta, however, they can still be very powerful against compact bases. This strategy uses the Barbarian King with Stick Horse and Angry Jelly, together with the Dragon Duke, to clear both sides and create a strong funnel. The main push uses 6 Super Bowlers with the Grand Warden's Heroic Torch, plus Eternal Tome or Healing Tome. When the army enters the core under Rage Spells, the damage can be extremely explosive, allowing the Super Bowlers to quickly wipe out anything in their path.

Totem Super Dragon

Strong against compact bases

This strategy starts with the Archer Queen's Giant Arrow to remove or weaken key anti-air defenses, such as Air Sweepers and Air Defenses. After that, the Golden Dragons are sent in together as a grouped main push. With Eternal Tome and Rage Spells, the Golden Dragons can deal massive splash damage through the core. The Minion Prince's Dark Orb also slows down grouped defenses, helping the dragons quickly erase the main defensive area. In the late stage, Overgrowth Spells and Totem Spells are used to control the remaining defenses and help the army finish the base.

Invisible RC Walk

Strong with L-shape and U-shape pathing

This strategy relies on the Royal Champion using Invisibility Spells and Spirit Fox to keep gaining invisibility during the opening phase. After creating enough value, the Royal Champion is usually pulled back with Recall Spell, then saved for the cleanup stage. This setup is often paired with Electro Boots for extra value. The main goal of the opening is to shape the base into an L-shaped path or work with other funneling units to create a U-shaped path. Once the path is ready, Root Riders and Valkyries are sent in to finish the base.
