Imagined Realm with Amazon Alexa
I recently participated in the Smart Craft Studio 2016 and spent 3 weeks in Hida Japan for intensive wood joinery and internet of things(iOT) workshops. During one of the iOT workshop, Shingeru Kobayashi sensei, the creator of Arduino Fio, walked us through how to set our Raspberry up with Amazon Alexa. It was really excited [...]

Ghostgazers
The new Ghostbusters is coming out, I saw the first trailer and decided to watch the original movies for nostalgic reasons. It brought back so many good memories, went on ebay immediately to browse vintage ghostbusters toys. Well, can’t really afford any, so I decided to make some toys myself, in VR. I wanted to [...]

Perfume
The word perfume derives from the Latin perfumare, meaning “to smoke through.” Perfumery, or the art of making perfumes, began in ancient Mesopotamia and Egypt, and was further refined by the Romans and Persians. The world’s first-recorded chemist is considered to be a woman named Tapputi, a perfume maker who was mentioned in a cuneiform [...]

高實光雕<生活小物> Summer Workshop: Little Things In Life
I was invited to teach a 2-day workshop with a group of media design students at Shih Chien University’s Kaohsiung Campus. The goal of this workshop is to broaden their design horizon by learning something new and relevant to their trade. The catch is after the workshop is over, students have to come up with a [...]

Flashback Island
Flashback Island is a 360 Panorama picture viewer for RICOH Theta. All the Panorama pictures are stored in the app so it might take sometime to load based on your internet connection. In the future and when I have more time, I will use google doc and store pictures externally instead. Lunch it here. You [...]

VR Kids, VR for kids
We are a group of creative technologists, VR enthusiasts, educators, and middle school learning designers. Since Oculus Rift successfully revolutionized the VR hardware in 2013, we have been looking for a way to bring VR to younger users in various learning environments without them feeling sick from the disorientation caused by the stereoscopic vision. VR [...]

sys12: polaris

Gametrak conroller + Unity3D + Oculus Rift
Continued from an older post of mine on experiments with the gametrak controller. This time I am going to use it with Oculus Rift to track hand locations in front of the player. I found myself constantly come back to this game controller for potential solutions for its camera-less tracking technology.

R.U.B.E to Processing
A recent project led me to R.U.B.E (Real Useful Box2d Editor). This editor is any box2d developer’s ultimate dream-come-true. I am currently testing out a JSON/Processing pipeline that enables me to build the world in R.U.B.E and bring it to live in Processing, excited! I stumbled on this post and thought it is a good [...]

ASTWOID
11/05/13 Built a prototype with Processing 2.0. Openprocessing downloads have weird compiler problem solved by duplicating the project and removing the code folder inside the project folder. 11/07/13 Playtest: arms are too powerful – death on touch! and not much to do for the Kinect player. Old Notes: 10/30/2011 Been thinking about a 2 player [...]

Holograph Fun
HolograFX recently caught my eyes with new low price, so I purchased a set to play with. It was actually fun going through the story and see the characters in holograph, it is like a mini Universal Studio attraction on my desktop. The set comes with many props and most of them are re-purposed old [...]
