Tangible Motion Graphics

In 2022, there was a trend popular amongst social media graphic designers using typography that emulated liquid materials, the most notable being liquid chrome. I expected this trend to continue into 2023 and wanted to find my own ways of producing similar effects for both animated and still graphics.

Using my experience with green screen + keying, I tangibly manipulated type without solely relying on the use of computer software. The idea was to retain the 'essence,' the texture and visceral movement, of these materials without losing them to computer renderings. Using different liquids like water, honey, and soap, I explored how their unique viscosity and surface quality could produce different visual effects.
